FAQ

What ages do you treat? +

We treat children in grades K-12. If your child is 18 and his or her own guardian, he or she will have to consent to treatment, as well as sign releases to allow Home Remedy clinicians to speak with you, school, and other treatment providers.

How much support will I get? +

Your family will receive individualized, intensive, in-home therapy two to three times a week (sessions are not limited to 50 minutes). Your family will have access to crisis support 24 hours/ 7 days a week. With your permission (signed releases), we will work with your child’s existing treatment providers and school to develop a coordinated treatment plan. You will also have access to our parent support and education group once every two weeks for as long as you need it.

Who will be my therapist? +

Each of our therapists are seasoned, Master's Level clinicians who are experienced and passionate about working in the home and community at an intensive level. We currently have three full time therapists, Emily Coen, MT-BC, LPCC-S, Ashley Howard, LISW, and Tuesdey Spangler.

What happens to the therapist we have already? +

Most likely, your child will continue seeing his/her outpatient therapist. With your permission, we will obtain signed consent forms, and collaborate directly with your psychiatrist or outpatient therapist about your family. We typically see the efficacy of individual therapy increase during Home Remedy; your clinician can help deal with the day-to-day crises and we can help “put out fires” so that your child’s outpatient therapist can focus on your child’s underlying struggles.

How will we measure success? +

We utilize two instruments to assess success, the YOQ (Youth Outcomes Questionnaire) and the Parenting Stress index. You will be asked to take these assessments at the beginning and the end of treatment. In addition, we will identify treatment goals, which will be specific and measurable. If there is a lack of progress, we will reassess and develop a plan that moves us closer to success.

How is this different from the therapy I’ve been getting? +

Home Remedy is a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy. This means that the frequency and intensity of therapy increases significantly. In addition to traditional therapy interventions we will be partnering with your whole family to solve and address problems as they arise. Because we are on call 24/7 and have flexibility in our schedule, we will be able to respond to issues in the moment. We provide you with the support you need to grow your skill set to match your child’s needs.

Is Home Remedy Covered by my Insurance? How is it billed? +

Home Remedy is a private practice, and we are out-of-network with all insurance companies. We ask families to contract for three months of full-time care, including 2-3 in-home sessions per week, 24 hour on-call, and our parent support and education groups. Our contract includes the services of an insurance advocate who will work with your insurance company to seek post-payment reimbursement, on your behalf. Many families have success with insurance reimbursing a portion of our fees, but we cannot guarantee reimbursement.

How can I get started? +

When families are interested in working with us, the best way to get started is for us to set up an initial meeting. This is a free-of-charge meeting, typically lasting about an hour, in which we can discuss your family’s needs, the specifics of our program, and answer any questions you may have for us. If you’d like to learn more, or if you want to move forward and set up an inquiry, please email us at hrparentinfo@gmail.com or call our intake number, (614) 407-4352‬.
